Luke Wiles Named Director of The Blaze Box Lacrosse Program

Mt. Laurel, NJ — East Coast Elite today announced that former NLL champion and three-time All-Star Luke Wiles will lead The Blaze Box Lacrosse Program, based in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. The Blaze was acquired from Blaze Riorden’s BR10 box program and rebranded under the ECE umbrella.

Wiles will own every part of the build: staff, curriculum, and culture. He’ll be on the floor at practices and on the bench at tournaments, shaping The Blaze in his own vision of how the game should be taught and played.

Few people in the sport are better equipped for it. Wiles won a Minto Cup with the St. Catharines Athletics in 2003, taking Tournament MVP honors after leading all players with 15 goals and 27 points in six games. He was a back-to-back Bobby Allan Trophy winner as his junior league’s top scorer, played midfield at the University of Delaware, and went on to eight NLL seasons with Philadelphia, San Jose, Toronto, Washington, and Buffalo - winning the Champions Cup with the Washington Stealth in 2010 and finishing with more than 450 career points (208 goals, 246 assists).

What sets Wiles apart is what he’s done since. His post-playing career has been built almost entirely on the box side. He founded and ran Pro-Star Box Lacrosse Camps in Ontario for nine years. He brought authentic box training to Philadelphia-area youth through Fusion Lacrosse and the Penn Lax program, teaching indoor concepts to field players and running the box development side of both. During his playing days he even mentored Paul Rabil on inside finishing and box skills. He also spent eight years with Blue Star Lacrosse on the field travel side working with teams and players of all ages.

The Blaze will recruit from the box lacrosse hotbeds of South Jersey and Philadelphia with the goal of establishing itself among the top box programs on the East Coast. The program is partnered with ECE Box Lacrosse Club, the premier box program in Northeast New Jersey. The two will run joint training camps, and the top players from each will be invited into the ECE National Program, competing against elite all-star box programs at destination events.
